Our Story

The Family Love Letter was born from a simple but powerful truth: families deserve clarity—not confusion—during life’s most difficult transitions. Too often, after a loss or incapacity, loved ones are left searching for answers, uncertain about wishes, assets, and plans. This unnecessary stress only deepens the heartbreak of an already painful time.

Inspired by these experiences, the Family Love Letter was created as a gift of preparation and love. It is more than a document—it is a guide, a safeguard, and a legacy that preserves values, organizes vital information, and strengthens family bonds.

Over the years, we have partnered with individuals, advisors, and organizations to make this tool an essential part of thoughtful planning. Every time someone chooses to prepare a Family Love Letter, they are choosing to spare their loved one’s confusion and replace it with peace of mind, clarity, and love.

Our story continues—every time a family chooses love over uncertainty.

Our Mission

Our mission is to help families face life’s hardest moments with clarity instead of confusion. We guide individuals by creating a Family Love Letter—a thoughtful, compassionate roadmap that preserves personal wishes, vital information, and cherished values. By doing so, we minimize stress, prevent conflict, and provide peace of mind when it matters most.

We believe legacy planning is more than paperwork—it is an act of love. Our purpose is to ensure every family has the comfort, trust, and guidance they need to move forward with confidence and care.

Meet the Team

A dedicated group of professionals helping families turn planning into a lasting act of love—one letter, one legacy, one conversation at a time.

"When my father died, he left a house full of memories, but little information. To this day, I remain concerned that I did not know what he intended to happen and what legacy he wanted to leave behind. I did know that he wanted to he buried in Arlington National Cemetery, but even then, it took me days of searching to find his military discharge papers that showed he could be buried there. I finally found them as a bookmark in a book on his shelf."

Jeff Scroggin, J.D., LL.M., AEP

"No one likes to think about these matters, but we can’t overstate the importance of the Family Love Letter. It prepares loved ones for the confusion of difficult circumstances. By pulling these important documents together and leaving important details in one place – email passwords, codes to the safe, etc. – men and women are getting their house in order for the good of those they are about most."
